Move-out cleaning checklist, room by room.

The list a handover inspection is checked against: a landlord, a property manager or a buyer's agent walking the property with the keys in hand. Work through it yourself, or have us quote the whole list and a service partner carry it out.

Before you start.

  • Read the cleaning clause in your lease or agreement first. Some ask for specific things, such as professional carpet cleaning.
  • Book the clean for after the last box leaves and before the keys are handed back. An empty property is the only one that can be cleaned to this list.
  • Leave the power and water on until the clean is finished.

Outside a cleaning visit

Real handover jobs, but not cleaning, so they are not part of a quoted move-out clean.

  • Balcony, patio, garage and storage locker emptied
  • Light bulbs replaced where your lease asks for it
  • Nail holes and paint touch-ups, only if your lease asks for them
  • Keys, fobs, garage remotes and mailbox keys gathered for handover
  • Mail forwarding and utility transfers arranged
